10 Day Tour: Ashgabat – Merv – Darvaza – Kunya-Urgench – Yangykala – Turkmenbashi – Arkadag – Koytendag – Kerki – Ashgabat Airport
Tour Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrival in Ashgabat
- Meet at the airport
- Breakfast and Ashgabat city tour
- Overnight in Ashgabat
Day 2 — Ashgabat → Merv → Ashgabat
- Early departure to Mary (3.5–4 hours drive)
- Visit Ancient Merv UNESCO World Heritage Site: Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum, Erk Kala, Gyaur Kala, Kiz Kala
- Return to Ashgabat
- Overnight in Ashgabat
Day 3 — Ashgabat → Darvaza
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Optional: short Ashgabat city tour, shopping, or rest
- Depart for Darvaza by midday
- En route stops at Water Crater and Mud Crater
- Sunset and nighttime visit to Darvaza Gas Crater (“Door to Hell”) — spectacular photography opportunity, best viewed after dark
- Overnight at crater campsite (yurt accommodation)
Day 4 — Darvaza → Kunya-Urgench → Dashoguz → Ashgabat
- After breakfast, drive to Kunya-Urgench historical complex
- Continue to Dashoguz:
- Visit Gurbansoltan Bazaar excellent for local culture, dried fruits, traditional clothes, and crafts
- Walk through Central Park and fountains area
- Optional: Regional History Museum
- Evening flight back to Ashgabat (19:50 or 23:40)
- Overnight in Ashgabat
Day 5 — Ashgabat → Kov-Ata → Yangykala → Turkmenbashi
- Morning drive to Kov-Ata Underground Lake (optional swim in the warm sulfur water)
- Continue to Yangykala Canyon
- Explore the stunning canyon and enjoy sunset views
- Drive to Turkmenbashi
- Check-in and dinner
- Overnight in Turkmenbashi
Day 6 — Turkmenbashi → Nokhur → Arkadag
- Relaxed morning walk in Awaza resort area
- Drive to Nokhur Mountain Village and explore the cemetery and traditional village life
- Continue to Arkadag (Turkmenistan’s newest city)
- Check-in at Merkaw Hotel
- Evening walk in the modern city center
- Overnight in Arkadag
Day 7 — Ashgabat → Kerki → Transfer to Koytendag
- 10:00 Flight Ashgabat → Kerki
- Transfer Kerki – Koytendag (approximately 2 hours)
- Hotel check-in in Koyten Oba area
- Light afternoon excursion (choose one):
- Visit Umbar Dere Canyon (easy scenic walk)
- Walk around Koytendag village with optional viewpoint drive
- Dinner and overnight in Koytendag
Day 8 — Dinosaur Plateau & “Goat Massage” → Transfer to Kerki
- 07:30 Breakfast
- Visit Dinosaur Plateau with 300+ fossilized dinosaur tracks (30–45 min hike to the top)
- Experience the unique “goat massage” tradition at Koytendag Nature Reserve
- Optional: combine with Kyrk Gyz Plateau if desired
- Picnic lunch or local café
- Return transfer to Kerki
- Hotel check-in in Kerki
- Evening in Kerki:
- Walk along the Amu Darya riverfront
- Optional shopping
- Overnight in Kerki
Day 9 — Flight Kerki → Ashgabat (City Tour & Nowruz Celebrations)
- Morning at leisure in Kerki
- Optional: river walk or tea at a traditional chaykhana
- 12:00 Flight Kerki → Ashgabat
- Ashgabat city tour: museums, monuments, parks, bazaars, panoramic viewpoints
- If your visit coincides with Nowruz (around March 21): We’ll arrange visits to local celebration venues, traditional music and dance performances, Nowruz markets with special foods, and festive gatherings in parks and public squares
- Overnight in Ashgabat
Day 10 — Departure from Ashgabat
- Morning transfer to international terminal for departure
