Tour Itinerary
Day 1, Arrival in Ashgabat – Ashgabat City Tour
- Meet you at Ashgabat International Airport upon your arrival. International flights usually arrive after midnight.
- After breakfast, we will begin our sightseeing tour of Ashgabat. Known as the “City of White Marble,” Ashgabat holds a Guinness World Record for having the most white-marbled buildings in the world. We will explore some of the city’s main attractions.
- Afternoon check in to the hotel.
- Dinner at a local restaurant.
- Overnight in Ashgabat.
Day 2, Ashgabat – Darvaza Gas Crater
- After breakfast, free time in Ashgabat. We will depart for the Darvaza Gas Crater (271km, approximately 4.5 hours drive). Also known as the “Gates of Hell,” this site is a dramatic burning crater located in the vast Karakum desert.
- En route, we will visit two other craters, a Water Crater and a Mud Crater.
- Our aim is to arrive at the Darvaza Gas Crater just before sunset, which is considered the best time to witness its spectacle.
- Dinner will be served at the nearby Yurt camp.
- You will have ample time to experience the mesmerizing view of the burning crater, and your guide will share its history and stories.
- Overnight at Darvaza in Yurts or tents.
Day 3, Darvaza – Dashoguz – Shavat Border
- After breakfast at Darvaza, we will drive north towards the city of Dashoguz (300km, approximately 5 hours drive). The road conditions for this segment are very challenging.
- Upon arrival in Dashoguz, we will spend some time in the city before heading to the border.
- From Dashoguz, we will proceed to the Shavat border crossing point, which is located between Dashoguz and Khiva cities.
- Exit Turkmenistan via the Shavat border.
