Introduction
TThis 3-day Turkmenistan tour starts at the Bajgiran border with Iran and takes you directly into Ashgabat — the world-famous city of white marble, known for being exceptionally clean and uniquely designed. After settling in, you will travel north through the desert to visit the Water Crater, Mud Crater, and finally the Darvaza Gas Crater — the glowing “Gates of Hell.” Many travelers say the fire has weakened in recent years, so now may be the best time to see it before it changes, although in some areas the flames appear stronger than before. Enjoy a desert sunset (if timing allows), a traditional dinner at the yurt camp, and an unforgettable night beside the burning crater.
The tour also includes a full sightseeing day in Ashgabat, covering its iconic monuments, modern architecture, and illuminated night views. Designed for travelers entering from Iran, this short route offers a smooth border arrival, comfortable pacing, and two of Turkmenistan’s most famous highlights within just three days. The overall pace is relaxed and not too fast, making it suitable for most travelers.
