Introduction
This 3 day Turkmenistan tour is ideal for travelers crossing from Bukhara through the Farab border. Begin with Turkmenabat, once called the second capital during Soviet times, then continue to the UNESCO-listed ruins of ancient Merv, including Gyaur Kala, Erk Kala, and the Mausoleum of Sultan Sanjar. Spend a full day in Ashgabat, the white marble capital, visiting its monuments, museums, and lively bazaars. On the final day, return via Turkmenabat and exit back to Uzbekistan at the Farab border.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1, Farab Border – Ancient Merv – Ashgabat
- Meet at Farab border crossing point near Turkmenabat.
- Drive to ancient Merv for brief exploration of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
- After sightseeing in Merv, you will continue to Ashgabat via excellent paid highway.
- Overnight in Ashgabat.
Day 2, Ashgabat City Tour
- Full day exploring Ashgabat’s marble monuments and attractions.
- Visit Independence Monument, Neutrality Arch, and other highlights of this unique marble city.
- Free time to explore more of Ashgabat’s attractions.
- Overnight in Ashgabat.
Day 3, Ashgabat – Turkmenabat – Bukhara
- Morning city tour continuation if desired.
- In the afternoon, you will take a flight to Turkmenabat.
- Upon arrival in Turkmenabat, you will exit to Uzbekistan through Farab border crossing.
- End of the tour!
