Tour Itinerary

  • Meet at the Uzbekistan border (Shavat) near Khiva and Urgench
  • Drive to Kunya Urgench
  • Drive to Darvaza 
  • Arrive at the Darvaza gas crater (“Gates of Hell”)
  • Dinner at a yurt camp
  • Overnight stay in a yurt or tent at Darvaza

  • Drive to Ashgabat (300km, 5 hours)
  • See water crater and mud crater en route
  • Lunch at a restaurant in Ashgabat
  • Check into hotel and Ashgabat city tour
  • Dinner at a traditional restaurant in Ashgabat
  • Overnight in Ashgabat

  • Drive to Merv (400km, 4 hours)
  • Lunch at a restaurant near Merv city
  • Sightseeing in Merv: Gyz-Gala, Askhabi mausoleum, ancient fortresses of Gyaur Kala and Erk Kala, Sultan Sanjar mausoleum
  • Dinner at a restaurant in Mary
  • Overnight train from Merv to Turkmenabat

  • Drive to Farab border crossing (40km, 30-minute drive)
  • Cross the border at Farab
