Introduction
Turkmenistan tour 4 days starts at the Shavat border near Khiva and blends desert drama with Silk Road heritage. Visit Kunya Urgench, then reach the blazing Darvaza Gas Crater for sunset, kebab dinner, and an overnight in a yurt. Continue to Ashgabat for a city tour of white-marble monuments, lively bazaars, museums, and UNESCO-listed Nisa. On day three explore ancient Merv Gyz-Gala, Gyaur-Kala, Erk-Kala, and the Mausoleum of Sultan Sanjar before the night train to Turkmenabat and exit via the Farab border.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Khiva – Dashoguz – Kunya-Urgench – Darvaza Gas Crater
- Meet at Uzbekistan border (Shavat) near Khiva and Urgench
- Drive to Kunya Urgench for sightseeing
- Continue to Darvaza Gas Crater (“Gates of Hell”)
- Dinner and overnight stay in traditional yurt camp
Day 2: Darvaza–Ashgabat
- Breakfast at Darvaza
- Scenic drive to Ashgabat (300km, 5 hours)
- Visit water crater and mud crater en route
- Ashgabat city tour and hotel check-in
- Traditional dinner in Ashgabat
Day 3: Ashgabat – Ancient Nisa – Ashgabat
- Visit Ancient Nisa (UNESCO site)
- Explore Ashgabat’s attractions
- Overnight in Ashgabat
Day 4: Ashgabat – Mary – Bukhara
- Morning arrival in Turkmenabat
- Transfer to Farab border crossing (30 minutes)
