Introduction

This Turkmenistan 5 day tour begins in Ashgabat and takes you west to the Caspian Sea. On the way, visit Kov Ata underground lake for a warm swim and explore the traditional mountain village of Nokhur. Stay overnight in Turkmenbashi and enjoy Avaza resort before heading to the colorful Yangikala canyons, home to wild camels and dramatic desert scenery. Continue to the fiery Darvaza Gas Crater for sunset, kebabs, and a yurt overnight. Finish with a full Ashgabat city tour before your departure.

Tour Itinerary

  • Upon arrival at Ashgabat International Airport (usually after midnight), you will be met and transferred towards Turkmenbashi.
  • Along the way, you will visit Kov Ata cave, famous for its underground thermal lake.
  • Then you’ll continue to Nohur village, where you can experience the unique local culture.
  • These stops are included in the route as the journey includes travel between Ashgabat and Turkmenbashi.
  • After this, you’ll continue to Turkmenbashi, located on the Caspian Sea coast, where you’ll spend the night.
  • Overnight in Turkmenbashi

  • Today you’ll head to the Caspian Sea coast to visit Avaza.
  • Then you’ll travel to the impressive Yangikala Canyons, known for their multicolored rock formations.
  • Visiting Yangikala is mandatory when including Turkmenbashi in the itinerary.
  • After exploring the canyons, you’ll continue to Ashgabat via Balkanabat route.
  • Overnight in Ashgabat

  • After breakfast, you’ll have free time or can start a city tour of Ashgabat until your afternoon departure to Darvaza.
  • You’ll then depart from Ashgabat to the famous Darvaza Gas Crater, also known as the “Gates of Hell.”
  • Your arrival will be timed so you reach the crater shortly before sunset, allowing you to enjoy its magnificent view at dusk and night.
  • You’ll have plenty of free time to explore this unique place.
  • Overnight in Darvaza in yurts or tents

  • In the morning, after breakfast in Darvaza, you’ll return to Ashgabat.
  • Upon arrival, you’ll have a city tour of Ashgabat – Turkmenistan’s capital.
  • This city is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the city with the most white marble buildings in the world.
  • You’ll see the main attractions including the National Museum, Carpet Museum, various monuments, and the ruins of Nisa and Anau.
  • This itinerary includes one comprehensive Ashgabat city tour.
  • Overnight in Ashgabat

  • Early morning, usually after midnight, you’ll be transferred to Ashgabat International Airport for your departure.
