【5/20 Turkmenistan DAY5 Darvaza~Dashoguz~Khiva】
At the magic hour before sunrise, I gazed at the last view of the “Gates of Hell” and fully savored the morning sun rising from the Karakum Desert, alone beside the yurt 🌅
I burned this incredibly moving scenery into my eyes! 😍
Though it’s sad to leave, it’s time to cross the border again and return to Uzbekistan.
Ugh, Turkmenistan is ending already~ 😢
The car flies through the desert once again, racing towards the border town of Dashoguz! 🚗💨
For some reason, we arrived early today!
We were supposed to arrive at 2 PM, but somehow we reached Dashoguz at 12:30~ ⏰
(We made it before the border’s lunch break from 1-2 PM~)
We headed to the Uzbekistan border, where we said goodbye to our guide Yusuppu and the others~ 👋
Thank you, people of Turkmenistan! 🇹🇲❤️
Unlike the outbound journey, we passed through the border without difficulty, and our group chartered a taxi to the city of Khiva in Uzbekistan 🚕
With this, our 5-day Turkmenistan tour has ended! ✨
Every day something happened, there were mishaps, things didn’t go according to plan, but we laughed it all off every day – there might never be another tour as fun as this one! 😂🎉
I want to express 100% gratitude to everyone who traveled with us: Mr. O, who despite being a celebrity, served as our group leader with such a calm and sincere demeanor 😊; S-kun, the nomad who shared a room with me every night and checked my passport 📖; Yukko, my travel buddy, drinking companion, and fellow hometown girl with her spontaneous spirit 🍻; U-chan, our tour conductor who’s actually a tourism ambassador and speaks perfect English – such a super lady! 💪; Ms. M, the reliable older sister who looked after my stomach 🤗; Yusuppu, our knowledgeable veteran guide and fellow divorcee/diarrhea buddy 😅; Rahim, the charming apprentice guide full of personality 😄; Roshan, who drove safely over long distances every day 🚐; and all the other people who were involved in this trip. Thank you 100%! 🙏💕
Dear David!
Hello.
I was very busy with work and was quite delayed in responding.
Just this Saturday, we drank wine with the participants of the trip to Turkmenistan and their families.
There was Italian and Croatian wine, so we tried to compare them.
The Turkmen wine surprised me – it was more brownish in color compared to other red wines.
The aroma and taste were also completely different from familiar wines, very interesting.
It reminded me of a traditional Japanese medicinal herbal drink (called “Yomeishu”) and seemed very beneficial for health.
Italian and other red wines have the bitterness and astringency of grapes,
but for me, preferring sweet things, the Turkmen wine seemed more pleasant to drink.
I’ll send photos taken on Saturday. Give my regards to Yusup as well.
I will recommend the trip to Turkmenistan to my friends.
Thank you very much.
