Tour Overview
Experience eastern Turkmenistan on a private one-day excursion from Bukhara to Turkmenabat, one of the country's major regional cities and an important centre of the Lebap region.
The journey begins at the Farap border crossing, where you enter Turkmenistan and meet your local guide. From there, continue toward Turkmenabat, located near the Amu Darya River and historically connected with the ancient Silk Road settlement of Amul. During the day, explore the cultural and historical highlights of the city, including the Lebap Regional History Museum and the remains of Amul Fortress, an important trading point that once linked routes between Merv, Bukhara and Khorezm.
The programme also includes time to experience modern local life in Turkmenabat, with a visit to Gok Bazaar, where regional produce, dried fruits, spices and everyday goods create a lively introduction to the culture of eastern Turkmenistan. After lunch and sightseeing, return toward the Farap border, with the possibility of a short photo stop near the Amu Darya River depending on timing. This tour is ideal for travellers staying in Bukhara who want to visit Turkmenistan in a single day without needing overnight accommodation.
